My name is Justin Godfrey, and I am running for the Iron County School Board, District 7. I am 44 years old, a husband, a father of four, a small-business owner, and a committed member of the Iron County community.
My wife, Rachel, and I have been married since 2004 and live in Enoch, Utah. Rachel was born and raised here and has deep family roots throughout the community. Together, we are raising four children—ages 19, 16, 11, and 9—and like many families in Iron County, education, opportunity, and fiscal responsibility are not abstract ideas for us; they directly affect our daily lives and our children’s futures.
I grew up in Vermont and moved to Cedar City in 1999 to attend Southern Utah University. During that time, I also served a mission for
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Monterrey, Mexico—an experience that strengthened my faith, discipline, and commitment to service. After graduating, I began my professional career with The Kellogg Company, where I spent 14 years developing business acumen, managing budgets, and working toward demanding sales and performance targets.
Over the last two decades, I have built extensive experience in business management, venture capital, and entrepreneurship. I later transitioned into venture capital and startup leadership, including helping scale a growing company, Supreme Ice, where I further refined my skills in operational efficiency, accountability, and long-term planning. In addition, Rachel and I own and operate Freedom Distribution LLC, and we also serve our community as independent contractors delivering groceries throughout Iron County.
Earlier in my career, I served as a firefighter—an experience that instilled in me a deep respect for public service, teamwork, and responsibility to others.
Outside of work and family, ice hockey plays a big role in our lives. We spend a great deal of time at KJ’s Ice Barn in Enoch, where our son plays for the Southern Utah Independent high school team, and we enjoy supporting the Iron County Yeti as well. These experiences keep us closely connected to local schools, students, and families.
I am running for the school board because I believe our community deserves strong leadership, clear priorities, and accountability. I will work to ensure that every taxpayer dollar is spent wisely, transparently, and with student outcomes—not bureaucracy—as the top priority. Iron County cannot afford continued out-of-control spending, and our schools deserve leadership that treats public funds with the same care families use in their own households.
I love this community, I have deep roots here, and I am committed to helping Iron County thrive—for today’s students and for generations to come.
